Google Trends - I (Turkey time or should I say 'times')
For those who are not aware of Google Trends (GT) please take a look at this and if reading a few paragraphs is too much for you then here is a one liner - GT gives you an estimate of how often a term is searched when compared to the total search volume in the form of a trend (or a graph).
It allows you to mine this information in specific geographical areas, languages, time frame etc. Such trends reveal interesting correlations such as this one ............ trend the search count for the term "turkey" in US (see plot below) ............ Why do people in US search for "turkey" a full four weeks after Thanksgiving? Any ideas :-)
Or you could ask, why do they search for "turkey" a week before Christmas?!? PS: The peak on Nov 21 is related to Thanksgiving preparation or curiosity (4 days before the event)

I wonder if people are trying to find out what to do with the left over turkey? But its just two weeks before xmas. Why do they wait so long? Could it be that turkey meat would be the cheapest during this time and ppl are trying to find out different recipes to try out?

People cook turkey for Christmas also though it is not as famous as the Thanksgiving one.
I agree with BKs comment..
People are looking for ways to repurpose the left over Turkey for their Christmas dinner...many people freeze the left overs after Thanksgiving.
I guess what people are searching for are 'recipes' to cook the turkey. The peak during thanksgiving is coz people are probably at home so they have time to cook it. The small rise during XMas is probably coz the ones who didn't get a chance to cook it during T-giving may want to do it for XMas. Moroever, the extended holiday season in December could also mean, many people may plan vacations, so they would have other things to do than cook turkey at home :D
